Production Manager VIC
Role & Company:
Our prestigious client is seeking an experienced and proven Production Manager. They are a leading manufacturing Group of quality reinforced concrete products. They are well established and have an enviable reputation for quality products and service and are innovators within the precast/civil construction arena, enforced by a substantial share of the market. This position is not for an average performer – it offers daily variety, technical challenges and the scope to make a direct and expected contribution to the company’s performance.
Our client will assist an out of area applicant with a relocation package. This is a senior role and you will become a member of the senior management team. You will manage the manufacturing operations of the factory/plant and report directly to the GM. This is a diverse role and to succeed in this role you will utilise your effective management skills in production planning, product quality, maintenance, financial KPIs, people, productivity and inventory. You will ensure that the company’s safety and environmental management plans are integrated and be responsible for the smooth introduction of improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Effective coordination and leadership of the 50 strong production workforce
- Ensure safety management and safety systems compliance in production activities
- Maximise operational efficiency
- In conjunction with others, undertake production planning and scheduling activities and execute these to meet business and market requirements
- Attend to production reporting, compliance, analysis and system requirements
- Continuously drive the right culture to ensure safety, quality and productivity standards are understood, owned and achieved
- Manage production costs and variances, including the key inputs of raw materials, labour, repairs and maintenance budgets
- Provide effective communication with internal and external customers and suppliers to ensure that customer and business needs are met
- Provide guidance & support to key production supervisors
- Manage inventories and stock
Qualifications/Personal Attributes:
- Previous production management or leadership experience
- Strong planning, problem solving, analytical and financial skills
- Effective communication, interpersonal and people management skills
- Experience in supervising people and driving behaviours
- Demonstrate leadership effectiveness for safety and environmental management
- Customer focused and driven
Previous experience in the civil construction or precast industry will be highly regarded. Tertiary qualifications (production, civil or manufacturing engineering), though not essential, will be advantageous.
The challenge is providing effective leadership and development of cohesive teams which are both flexible and responsive to change, and continuously improve processes in order to reduce the cost of manufacturing. It is critical to ensure compliance with all safety, quality assurance and environmental requirements.
