Analyst, Strategic Planning

The Financial Analyst, Strategic Planning will support the establishment, alignment and integration of the strategic planning process into the business to deliver on Newmont’s vision and mission. Support regions and functions in the development of sustainable, profitable and responsible business plans that contribute positively to Newmont’s global portfolio. Essential Duties include:
Strategic Planning Process
* Contribute to the establishment ofa strategic planning process.
* Support the establishment and execution of a change management plan to integrate and align the strategic planning process and capability into the organization.
* Develop, support and continuously improve various Portfolio management tools & processes (Strategic Fit Score, ERM score card, etc.).
Regional Portfolio Analysis
* Support the compilation, synthesis and communication of regional strategic scenarios within the global context to ELT, SLT, regional leadership and the Board of Directors.
* Support the management of the strategic components of all regional strategic campaigns and prepare regional leadership for monthly discussion during the monthly performance calls.
Global Portfolio Analysis
* Support the synthesis of allregional information for the full portfolio from Gen-EX, M&A, Projects and Operations within the global full field of view portfolio, by framing respective regional portfolios into the globally competitive landscape.
* Support the regional and global leadership (SLT and ELT members) in the development of a future competitive landscape perspective that aligns with the recommended macro-economic scenarios.
* Drive continuous improvement of decision making analysis and assist in information sharing of best practices.
* Support the compilation of the deliverables/presentations that communicate the results of the Macro-environment, competitive landscape and Newmont’s strength/weakness analysis as well as the recommendations.
Stakeholder Management
* Build trust and credibility with regional teams that fosters open communication, collaboration and creates results for the business.
Leadership and Team
* Help establish a high-performing team through leadership practices including performance management and information sharing.
* Provide feedback to individuals in the business that improves their strategic planning skills, understanding of Newmont’s portfolio approach and general financial and business acumen.
* Support the company’s internal economic modelers to continue to drive best practice (simulation, real option valuation and portfolio management, etc.).

Working Conditions
* The position is located in the Denver corporate office.
* Position may be required to travel 25 to 30% in order to assist domestic and international sites.
* Willingness to put in extra hours as travel, projects and priorities dictate; ability to accommodate meeting times outside typical business hours to attend global calls, etc.
Qualifications
* A degree in Finance and/or Economics preferably biased to extractive industry with an undergraduate degree in any mining, finance or mineral economics, or engineering related science.
* 1 to 3 years of experience in finance/economics.
* Experience in dealing with economic and finance issues particular to the mining industry preferred.
* Prior experience in a business planning function and/or developing business plans.
* Expertise in complex financial modeling (simulation, real option analysis) to drive the strategic planning process as well as best practice with Newmont Mining Corporation.
* In depth knowledge of portfolio management including development of portfolio management tools.
* Thorough knowledge of cash flow models (net income, operating cash flow, free cash flow, cash flow for distribution).
* Ability to do complex analytical work at both a big picture and very detailed level.
* Experience in working with Hyperion suite of products desirable.
* The work is complex in nature and the role requires initiative, tact and excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong site relationships.
* Strong communication and presentation skills are required.
* Concise communication and a high degree of accuracy are required with respect to the analysis prepared as much of the information is provided to the Executive Committee, Board of Directors and the senior management group.
* High degree of collaboration and team orientation required.
