Domestic Tax Manager
Location: CO, USA
Under the direction of the Tax Director, the Domestic Tax Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising and reviewing all aspects of U.S. domestic tax compliance. Essential Duties include:
*Create, plan, manage and execute all aspects of U.S. domestic tax compliance which includes the coordination with the International Tax Director and supervision of tax personnel in their work in order to ensure timely, complete and accurate compliance in all tax matters including the following:
o Forms 1120, tax return disclosures and elections related to domestic operations, and all other required domestic tax filings.
o Earnings and Profits calculations for domestic subsidiaries.
o State and local income tax filings.
* Provide data and analysis around domestic taxation will be used by Tax Directors, Business Planning and Sr. Leadership to make critical tax business decisions.
* Manage and plan the percentage depletion calculation process used as an input into the Company’s SEC financial statement.
* Review financial data for proper application of tax laws and advising on development and maintenance of accounting systems which provide tax information required to be reported.
* Maintain and communicate knowledge of past, present and potential future tax laws, regulations, rulings, procedures and court decisions.
* Actively develop personnel and develop bench-strength through training and mentoring of all staff and seniors, including conduct continuing education seminars.
* Manage and plan the percentage depletion modeling process which information generated from will be used as an input into various tax decisions including but not limited to, audit settlements and planning implementation.
* Build and maintain collaborative relationships with Corporate functions such as accounting, treasury, legal, and human resources, in addition to peers at the foreign sites.
* Assist in project, plan and/or M&A analysis (due diligence) as it relates to pro-forma and portfolio tax impacts.
* Liaise regularly with Canada, Australia, France, Indonesia, Peru and Ghana administrative and operating units for impact, optimization and interaction of US taxes.
* Reinforce and support the department’s goals, objectives and philosophies in interaction with other corporate disciplines, including Newmont’s Corporate Development, Legal, Treasury, Accounting and Business Planning groups, as well as Newmont’s international administrative and operating units.

Working conditions:
* The position is located in the Denver corporate office.
* Occasional to frequent travel to domestic and international sites required.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Business, or related field. 10 years of applicable tax experience, or minimum of Seven (7) years of experience with at least 6 years of Big 4 experience.
* CPA, CMA and/or MBA desirable; an advanced degree will count towards 1- 2 year of experience.
* Must have a CPA or law degree.
* Strong tax skills with proficiency in US GAAP, tax compliance, corporate consolidated returns, state tax returns and exposure to international tax compliance.
* Significant experience with percentage depletion and the Alternative Minimum Tax regime.
* Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills and strong attention to detail.
* Strong leadership, teaming and communication skills required.
