Kumtor Operating Company is seeking an experienced and qualified accounting professional for the position of Chief Accountant in the Krygyz Republic. The position reports directly to the Vice-President, Finance and will perform an important role as a member of the management team.
The Chief Accountant is expected to effectively supervise, train and manage an experienced and dedicated team of national accountants and staff and is responsible for all aspects of financial accounting, analysis and financial reporting. Primary areas of responsibility include the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial related reports and yearend financial statements along with required financial and KPI analysis and explanations. This requires a good understanding of mining operations and related issues, oversight and knowledge of various transactions and ensuring appropriate accounting decisions are made. This position will work closely with senior management and applicable staff to ensure continued compliance with Sarbanes Oxley and/or Bill 192 compliance requirements along with related internal and external audit requirements. In addition, this position will be involved in the preparation and completion of quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, capital and long term mine plans.
The ideal candidate will possess a recognized professional accounting designation, accompanied by 5-10 years of work experience, preferably in a mining operation. Knowledge of and experience working with International Accounting Standards will be a definite asset. Strong interpersonal and management skills are important. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain good working relationships with operations personnel including management and operations accounting.
This is a two-year resident position, located in Bishkek, the capital city of the Kyrgyz Republic in Central Asia. The position would require numerous trips to the mine site which is situated at 4000m.
